Nothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. ~William James
I’m sure you’ve heard of the old proverb – don’t put off tomorrow, what you can do today. The following reading comes is an excerpt from Everything Is Now! by Christopher Hills:
Slothfulness, the inability to lift yourself up from a situation, or the tendency to wallow in procrastination, is the second enemy of the spirit, next to self-righteousness. Slothfulness has many disguises and one of them is procrastination.
When you see someone making progress, often they are using the difficulties or resistances in themselves. When a challenge is offered, they take that challenge as an opportunity for lifting themselves up, whereas a procrastinator will put it off, saying, “Oh, I’ll do it another time. I can’t bother now.” Really the very thing the procrastinator needs to do is to look at the consequences, namely, “If I do not deal with this small thing now, it will become a big thing later on.”
All of that, is just a $10 way of saying…today, DO IT NOW!
