Today Monday 21, 2013 is both Inauguration Day and the federal holiday honoring and celebrating the life the of this nations greatest Civil Rights Leader. To signify this year’s unique intersection – President Barack Obama will be sworn into office using with the Bible that belonged to the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.! “It’s almost like fate and history coming together,” said U.S. Rep. John Lewis.

Have you ever thought about what it would be like if Barack Obama and Martin Luther King sat down at the table and wrote a speech together? Well, today, we all have the opportunity to recall and embrace the teachings of Dr. King through the life of President. In fact, it was Dr. King that paved the way for President Barack Obama. These two great leaders share the same destiny, even though they never got to enjoy the stage together.

In keeping with the words and example of, Dr. King let us embrace “Change does not roll in on the wheels of inevitability, but comes through continuous struggle.” In his memory, let us recall his teaching that “we are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.”

Yes with today’s Inauguration and the observation of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day we all should accept our obligations to another, strengthen the fibers that hold us together, and live out his dream right now and to future generations!
