Discipline in Endurance

WEEK 4: Enjoying Our Predestined Victory(by sharing)!

Day 23, April 26-27, 2015     {Psalm 1:1-6}
Today is the energy of Discipline in Endurance. Be painfully aware of one negative behavior that is common to you, whether it is yelling, exhibiting frustration, shutting down, communicating poorly, etc. Just for today be vigilant about controlling that quality. Don’t give into it under any circumstances. See how empowered you feel afterwards.

~Karen Berg

Sounds rather abstract, “discipline within endurance”, but it’s really a quality most of us use daily and value highly. We pay attention today on the ability to focus on something as a way to help us accomplish whatever it is we are trying to do. Accomplishing anything, from baking a cake to writing a Ph.D. thesis, from sweeping the floor to teaching a child how to ride a bicycle, requires the quality of focused attention directed toward a goal. Today, let’s think of some larger issues as well that could us that kind of energy: corruption in politics, police brutality or wars in the Middle East are just for a few examples. If nothing else, let’s direct our prayers in those directions today!

Scripture Verses For Day 23:

Daniel 4:34-35 (ESV)

34 At the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to heaven, and my reason returned to me, and I blessed the Most High, and praised and honored him who lives forever, for his dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom endures from generation to generation;

35 all the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing, and he does according to his will among the host of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay his hand or say to him, “What have you done?”

1 John 3:4-9 (ESV)

4 Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness.

5 You know that he appeared in order to take away sins, and in him there is no sin.

6 No one who abides in him keeps on sinning; no one who keeps on sinning has either seen him or known him.

7 Little children, let no one deceive you. Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous.

8 Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.

9 No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s seed abides in him, and he cannot keep on sinning because he has been born of God.
